The Northwest Missouri State softball team travels to Oklahoma this weekend for their first MIAA contests of the season. The Bearcats take on Northeastern State in Tahlequah on Friday before heading to Claremore to meet Rogers State on Saturday. Both days will feature doubleheader matchups.

The Riverhawks have posted a 14-8 overall record and are 2-2 in MIAA action with wins over Newman and losses to Central Oklahoma. Five of NSU's top nine hitters are hitting above .300 on the season. Rhomie Bradshaw leads the way, hitting .407 and going 33-for-81 at the plate.

The NFCA No. 12 Hillcats are 12-6 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. Rogers State has picked up two MIAA wins over Newman and split their series with Central Oklahoma. The Hillcats have six hitters batting at least .300 or higher in their lineup. Payton Stroud boasts a .400 batting average, going 14-for-35 at the plate with three doubles and scoring 10 runs.

The Bearcats are 16-13 all-time against Northeastern State and tied 6-6 when playing in Tahlequah. The last Bearcat win on the road came in a 5-2 contest on March 26, 2017. Northwest has only faced Rogers State twice, once in a neutral site victory in 2007, and one MIAA loss in Claremore on Feb. 17, 2019.

Kaitlyn Weis is currently third for NCAA Division II's active career leaders in home runs. Weis has homered 49 times, sitting behind Brenna Busby (Cameron, 55) and Courtney Barnhill (Angelo St., 51).
