The Northwest Missouri State softball team is set to compete in the Missouri Western Hy-Vee Classic this weekend, playing two games each on Saturday and Sunday. The Bearcats are set to face four opponents they have not played yet this season. The 5-3 Bearcats meet Upper Iowa and Winona State on Saturday before facing Bemidji State and Minnesota State on Sunday.
 
Against Upper Iowa, the Bearcats lead the series 10-4 and 6-4 in neutral site games. Winona State has a 5-2 record over the Bearcats, taking the last four games from Northwest. Northwest is 3-0 against Bemidji State, with their last matchup that took place on March 17, 2007. MSU leads the series 19-6 against the Bearcats and 11-4 in neutral site matchups.
 
Kaitlyn Weis is currently third for NCAA Division II's active career leaders in home runs. Weis has homered 49 times, sitting behind Brenna Busby (Cameron, 52) and Courtney Barnhill (Angelo St., 50). Weis is also 15
th in the country in batting average on the season after hitting .591 through eight games and going 13-for-22. She is also tied for first in DII for home runs per game (0.75) in the 2021 season so far.
