The Northwest track and field teams cleaned up day two competition at the Bearcat Open in Hughes Fieldhouse with new personal-bests and few school records.
Ally Hammond qualified for the finals in both the 60m hurdles and the 60m dash. Hammond ran for fifth in the hurdles in a time of 9.05 seconds and took second in the 60m dash finals in 7.69 seconds.
Regan Aurich took fourth in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 58.79 seconds.
Delanie Dykes shaved a second off her time in the 800m run to set a new personal-best and second overall in Northwest history with a DII provisional qualifying time of 2:13.34. Dyke finished third in the race while teammate
Bailey Blake finished right behind her in 2:14.33 for fourth place.
Caroline Cunningham ran a personal-best in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:01.75, taking second place in the event. The 4x400m relay team of
Tiffany Hughey,
Randi Overkamp,
Bailey Blake, and
Kaylee Harp took second in the event with a time of 3:53.50.
Blake Morgan won the men's high jump with a new personal-best jump of 6-10.25. That height ties for the sixth best jump in Northwest history.
Corbin Smith took third in the 60m hurdles with his personal-best time of 8.55 seconds. In the men's mile, Jake Norris beat his own school record with a 4:07.68, taking second place while
Tucker Dahle ran for fifth place in 4:14.78.
Omar Austin took silver in the 400m dash in a provisional qualifying time of 47.24 seconds.
Abdelrahim Mahgoub set a new personal-best, meet record, and provisional qualifying time in the 800m run in 1:51.27. That time also ranks second overall in Northwest history.
The men's 4x400m relay team of
Caelon Harkey,
Gavyn Monday,
R.J. Williams, and
Omar Austin set a new Hughes Fieldhouse and Northwest record with a time of 3:10.26 that earned a win in the event. That time also ranks as the fastest run so far this season in NCAA Division II.
The Bearcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, Kansas.
