The Northwest Missouri State softball team is set to play their first games of the season this weekend at the Drury Invitational in Springfield, Missouri.
 
The Bearcats take on Southwest Baptist at 1 p.m. on Friday before they meet William Jewell at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Northwest meets Illinois-Springfield with the first pitch coming at 1 p.m. before their final game against Drury beginning at 4 p.m. Live stats will be available for the Bearcats' game against Drury.
 
Against Southwest Baptist, the Bearcats lead 51-21, including 11-8 at neutral sites while they trail William Jewell 5-3 in the series. Northwest leads the series against Illinois-Springfield, 5-3, while they are tied with Drury 6-6 all-time.
 
Northwest is ready to go after the COVID-19-related cancelation midway through the 2020 season, leaving the Bearcats sitting at a 9-13 record. The first six games of the 2021 season were also canceled due to poor weather. The Bearcats' last two games were a pair of wins (9-8, 14-6) in a double-header against Illinois-Springfield at Bearcat Softball Field.
