Gorillas score non-conference win over Bearcats

PITTSBURG, Kansas – The Pittsburg State University Gorillas topped the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat baseball team in a non-conference matchup Tuesday, 20-2.
 
Northwest's Matt Gastner blasted a two-run homer in the first to account for the Bearcat offense.
 
Northwest starter Jonny McIntyre did not retire any of the six batters he faced in the bottom of the first as the Gorillas put up six first inning runs. The Gorillas did not let up and posted the 20-2 victory.
 
The Bearcats (1-2 overall) will open up MIAA play next Saturday and Sunday in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, against the Northeastern State RiverHawks.
 
NOTES: Northwest posted six hits, while the Gorillas had 19 … Northwest's Ryan Koski has a two-hit game … Northwest's Alexander Lovin struck out three in 3 2/3 innings of relief work.
