PITTSBURG, Kansas - The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team posted its second 3-0 sweep of the day with a straight-sets triumph over the Pittsburg State Gorillas.
Northwest won by set scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-17.
"In our game plan, we wanted our middle hitters to produce kills at a high clip," Woerth said. "Midway through the second set against Pittsburg State our middles starting achieving that goal which led to our success. It helped tremendously that we passed the ball well."
Â
Woerth said it was good for a group of newcomers that included outside
Kelsey Havel to be paired up with
Payton Kirchhoefer,
Kristen Ford and
Jaden Ferguson to gain some court time together with outside competition.Â
"We had a lineup that featured four newcomers in relation to our last squad in 2019," Woerth said. "It was good to get on the floor and match up against another team. We gained a lot of experience working with the new group in both of these matches today."
Northwest will play host to Washburn at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Bearcat Arena.
Â
"We are looking forward to playing Washburn at home Wednesday," Woerth said. "We got to see them in person and we will get a few more looks on film."
