NO. 2 BEARCATS TO OPEN MIAA ACTION AT HOME
The No. 2-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team (6-1 overall) will embark on MIAA play. Northwest will take on Northeastern State (Thursday, 7:30 p.m.) and Rogers State (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) in Bearcat Arena.

GETTING OFF TO A POSITIVE START IN MIAA PLAY
Northwest has won its MIAA opener in each of the last 10 seasons. Bearcat head coach Ben McCollum is 10-2 in MIAA openers.

ALL-TIME VS RIVERHAWKS
Northwest owns a 13-1 lead in the all-time series vs. Northeastern State. The Bearcats have won 12 straight matchups with the RiverHawks.
    Northwest is a perfect 5-0 all-time vs. NSU in games played in Maryville.
    NSU's only win against Northwest came 60-56 on March 8 in Joplin, Mo., in the first round of the 2000 NCAA Tournament.

ALL-TIME VS HILLCATS
Northwest holds a 2-0 lead in the all-time series with Rogers State. Northwest scored a 74-55 win over Rogers State on Jan. 6, 2020 in the first meeting between the two schools.
    Northwest picked up an 86-78 triumph in last year's season opener in Claremore, Okla.

AMONG NATION'S LEADERS
Northwest ranks No. 3 in the nation in free throws made (123). The Bearcats rank No. 7 in the country in three-pointers made (77). Northwest ranks No. 8 in the nation in free throw attempts (156).
    Junior Trevor Hudgins ranks No. 3 in the nation in three-point field goals made (31). Sophomore Wes Dreamer ranks No. 5 in the country in three-pointers made (25).

90-PLUS = SUCCESS
Northwest has posted a mark of 55-0 when scoring 90 or more points with head coach Ben McCollum. The Bearcats put up 98 points against Briar Cliff.
    Northwest reached the 90-point mark seven times last season.

'CATS, MCCOLLUM ROLLING IN BIG VICTORIES
Under head coach Ben McCollum the Bearcats are 121-2 in games decided by 20 points or more.
    Northwest has won 119 consecutive games when the final scoring margin is 20 or more points. The last time the Bearcats lost a game by 20 points or more came Jan. 20, 2010, when Missouri Southern posted an 88-63 win in Joplin, Missouri.

WINNING NUMBERS
Northwest has posted a spectacular mark of 103-4 over the past four seasons and has won both of the national championships that have been contested.

LIMITED LOSSES IN FIVE YEARS
Northwest has suffered only nine losses in the last five seasons. The Bearcats have compiled a record of 165-9 over the last five years.

NORTHWEST HITS A SCHOOL-
RECORD 22 THREES
Northwest sank a single game school-record 22 three-pointers in its 98-66 win over Briar Cliff.
    The previous mark of 20 had been set against Manhattan Christian on Nov. 19, 2004.
    Northwest also set its team single-game record for three-pointers attempted (41) against Briar Cliff. The previous mark of 39 was set against Emporia State on Jan. 9, 2019.
    The 22 made threes is the second-best performance this year by a Division II team. Southeastern Oklahoma State made 23 three-pointers vs. Arlington Baptist on Nov. 17.

DREAMER EQUALS PITTS MARK FOR THREES IN A GAME
Sophomore Wes Dreamer equaled the single-game school mark for three-pointers made in a game when he sank 10 against Briar Cliff.
    Dreamer's 10 triples tied the record set by Justin Pitts against Northeastern State on Nov. 30, 2017.

    Bernard is the only Northwest player to have accumulated 1,200 points, 600 rebounds and 300 assists in his career.
    Bernard has tallied 1,310 points, 629 rebounds and 311 assists.
    Victor Coleman nearly became the first Bearcat in that class when he played at Northwest from 1981-84. Coleman posted 1,795 points, 586 rebounds and 467 assists.

Junior guard Trevor Hudgins is looking to become Northwest's all-time leading scorer this season. Hudgins enters this week with 2,050 career points.
    Junior Diego Bernard became the 26th Bearcat to reach 1,000 career points in the program's history in the 2020-21 season. Bernard ranks No. 16 on the scoring list with 1,270 points.

MCCOLLUM SECURES 300TH WIN IN TITLE GAME
Northwest Missouri State head coach Ben McCollum secured his 300th coaching victory in Northwest's 80-54 win over West Texas A&M in the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship game.
    In his 13th season at the helm of the Bearcat program, McCollum has led Northwest to a record of 306-79.
    His winning percentage of .795 ranks No. 3 among NCAA Division II coaches and No. 6 among all NCAA Division coaches (minimum of 10 years experience).

TREVOR EARNS MIAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS
Junior guard Trevor Hudgins has been named the MIAA men's basketball athlete of the week.
    It is the first time this season, and eighth time in his career, Hudgins has been honored with the MIAA's top weekly honor. 
    The Manhattan, Kan., native knocked in nine three-pointers and secured his eighth career 30-point game in leading No. 1-ranked Northwest to a 78-65 win over a previously unbeaten Missouri St. Louis squad at the Hillyard Classic in St. Joseph, Mo.

BEARCATS ALWAYS SEEM TO BOUNCE BACK
Northwest dropped its first game of the season to Sioux Falls, 83-77, but promptly bounced back and scored a 75-52 win over Arkansas-Monticello at the Central Region Challenge held at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
    Northwest has played 195 games since last losing back to back games. Northwest's last back-to-back losses came Dec. 18/Dec. 20 2015 at Lincoln and at Lindenwood.

Northwest suffered its first non-conference regular season loss for the first time in nearly six years in Sioux Falls pulled off the 83-77 victory in Kansas City.
    Prior to the loss to the Cougars, Northwest's last regular season non-conference loss came at No. 1-ranked Augustana on Nov. 19, 2015.

41 FREE THROW ATTEMPTS
Northwest attempted 41 free throws in its 64-59 win over No. 21-ranked Seattle Pacific. It was the most free throws attempted since also getting 41 free throw tries against Missouri Southern on March 1, 2007.
    Northwest connected on 29-of-41 at the free throw line against Seattle Pacific. Junior guard Trevor Hudgins led the way by making 15-of-16 at the charity stripe.

ONE THREE-POINTER
Northwest went 1-of-9 from three-point range in its 64-59 win over No. 21-ranked Seattle Pacific. It is the fewes made three-pointers by the Bearcats since they went 1-of-15 against Southwest Minnesota State in the NCAA Tournament on March 14, 2017.

COMING FROM BEHIND
Northwest had to climb out of a pair of deficits to defeat both No. 15 Northern State and No. 21 Seattle Pacific at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.
    Northern State had an eight-point first-half lead against Northwest before the Bearcats charged back. Northwest trailed by four at the half, 30-26, but stormed back with a 42-25 scoring advantage in the final 20 minutes.
    Seattle Pacific held a seven-point lead in the first half against Northwest at 12-5. Northwest used a 14-0 run to take the look and never trailed again.

SMALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Northwest had both Trevor Hudgins and Wes Dreamer named to the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic All-Tournament team.
    Hudgins posted back-to-back 20-point scoring games with 22 against Northern State and 27 vs. Seattle Pacific.
