BEARCAT WOMEN TO OPEN MIAA PLAY AT HOME
The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team (4-1 overall) will initiate MIAA play Thursday and Saturday in Bearcat Arena. Northwest will play host to Northeastern State on Thursday and Rogers State on Saturday.
FOUR STRAIGHT WINS FOR BEARCATS
Northwest will take a four-game win streak into MIAA play this week. It marks the first four-game win streak since the Bearcats since the 2016-17 season.
PERIMETER DEFENSE LOCKED IN
Northwest's defense ranks No. 1 in the MIAA in fewest three-point shots allowed – both made and attempted. Northwest has limited opponents to 16 made three-pointers and 47 attempted three-pointers.
NORTHWEST VS NORTHEASTERN STATE
Northeastern State holds a 10-4 lead in the all-time series with Northwest. Head coach
Austin Meyer is 2-1 against the RiverHawks as he guided the Bearcats to wins over NSU in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
NORTHWEST VS. ROGERS STATE
Northwest is a perfect 4-0 all-time vs. Rogers State. Northwest is 2-0 vs. Rogers State in Bearcat Arena capturing victories over the Hillcats on Nov. 29, 2014 (W, 62-44) and Jan. 6, 2020 (W, 63-48).
EARNING A REGIONAL VOTE
Northwest earned a vote in this week's D2SIDA women's basketball central region poll. The Bearcats joined Minnesota-Duluth, East Central, Central Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene as teams receiving votes in the regional tally.

LOOKING TO END THE TREND
Northwest has won one MIAA opener in the last eight seasons. Northwest's only win to open MIAA play in the last eight years came in head coach
Austin Meyer's second season (2019-20) when the Bearcats knocked off Lincoln, 56-32.
NOT A LOT OF TURNOVERS
Northwest ranks No. 13 in the nation in fewest turnovers through its first five games. The Bearcats are averaging 12.2 turnovers per game. Northwest's two lowest turnover games this season have come against Southwest Minnesota State (8) and Rockhurst (7).

Austin Meyer has announced a signee for the Bearcats' 2022-23 recruiting class.
   Ella Moody is a 5'10", guard from St Joseph, Mo. She will graduate from Central High School this spring and has accumulated a 3.9 GPA. Moody was a part of the Class 6 all-state team, the first in Missouri's history. She was selected the Suburban Conference Player of the Year and was an all-district selection, finishing among the Kansas City metro leaders at 19.2 points per game, averaging 6.4 rebounds.
SECOND IN MIAA IN SCORING DEFENSE
The Bearcats rank No. 2 in the MIAA in scoring defense by holding opponents to 57.0 points per game.
BATTLING ON THE BOARDS
Northwest is 15-1 for head coach
Austin Meyer when it wins the rebounding battle. Northwest has won the rebounding battle against Minnesota-Crookston (+2), Missouri S&T (+11) and Winona State (+3).
KELDERMAN FINDS HER TOUCH FROM 3
True freshman guard
Peyton Kelderman has knocked in at least two three-pointers in each of Northwest's five games this season.
   Kelderman leads the squad with 12 three-pointers. She is shooting 38.7% from deep.
   She scored a season-high 16 points in Northwest's 65-62 win over Winona State. Her two free throws with :10 left clinched the neutral court win for the Bearcats.
STRONG WEEK FOR MCCONKEY
Fifth-year senior Mallor McConkey averaged 13.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and shot 66.7% from the field in leading Northwest to a perfect 3-0 week.
   McConkey notched her fifth 20-point scoring game of her career with a game-high 21 points in a 73-63 win over Rockhurst at the Washburn Thanksgiving Classic. She went 8-of-11 from the field with eight rebounds and five assists.
   McConkey went 6-of-6 from the field and scored 14 points in leading Northwest to a 65-62 victory over Winona State Saturday in Topeka, Kan. McConkey grabbed five rebounds vs. Winona State.
   For the week, she shot 16-of-24 from the field and 7-of-8 at the free throw line.
   McConkey leads the Bearcats in scoring (10.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.2 rpg).
MILESTONE WATCH
Mallory McConkey is edging closer to 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. McConkey has posted 849 points and 503 rebounds in her career. She would be the 19th member of the 1,000 points/500 rebounds club. She would also be the 28th player to reach 1,000 points.

50 SEASONS STRONG
The Bearcats are playing in their 50th season as a program. The first women's basketball season was in 1971-72 when head coach Sherri Reeves led the 'Cats to a 9-2 record as MAIAW Champions. Northwest also finished 5th in the AIAW Region VI Tournament where they defeated Wayne (Neb.) State, 74-62, before falling to Kansas State, 70-66.
