Northwest holds on for nail-biting win over Winona State, 65-62

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team ran its win streak to four in a row with a 65-62 win over the Winona State University Warriors at the Washburn Thanksgiving Classic.

Freshman Peyton Kelderman sank two clutch free throws with :10 left to secure the three-point win over the Warriors. Kelderman scored a season-high 16 points and buried four three-pointers.

Northwest held a 46-30 lead with 7:09 to play in the third quarter before Winona State stormed back to within a single point with 2:56 left in the game.

Northwest's four-game win streak is the program's longest since winning five in a row to start the 2016-17 season.

The Bearcats will be back in action Thursday at 5:30 p.m. when they play host to the Northeastern State University RiverHawks.

NOTES: Paityn Rau scored all 12 of her points in the first half ... Mallory McConkey joined Rau and Kelderman in double figures with 14 points ... Northwest won the rebounding battle, 24-21 ... Kelderman has drained at least two three-pointers in all five games this season.
