NORTHWEST SET TO INVADE ST. JOSEPH FOR HILLYARD CLASSIC
The No. 1-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team (3-1 overall) will make the short trip to St. Joseph, Mo., Friday to take part in the Hillyard Classic at the MWSU Fieldhouse.
    Northwest will match up against former conference foe the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 5:30 p.m.

ALL-TIME VS UMSL
Northwest holds a 22-10 lead in the all-time series with Missouri-St. Louis. The teams have not met since the 1995-96 season.

BEARCATS ALWAYS SEEM TO BOUNCE BACK
Northwest dropped its first game of the season to Sioux Falls, 83-77, but promptly bounced back and scored a 75-52 win over Arkansas-Monticello at the Central Region Challenge held at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
    Northwest has played 194 games since last losing back to back games. Northwest's last back-to-back losses came Dec. 18/Dec. 20 2015 at Lincoln and at Lindenwood.

RARE NON-CONFERENCE REGULAR SEASON LOSS
Northwest suffered its first non-conference regular season loss for the first time in nearly six years as Sioux Falls pulled off the 83-77 victory in Kansas City.
    Prior to the loss to the Cougars, Northwest's last regular season non-conference loss came at No. 1-ranked Augustana on Nov. 19, 2015.

MCCOLLUM HAS BEARCATS DEFENSIVE
Bearcat head coach Ben McCollum can get defensive. When the Bearcats hold an opponent to 59 points or less, McCollum has guided Northwest to a mark of 134-5 in his 13-year career.
    In each of its three wins this season, Northwest has held the opposition to 59 points or less.

HUDGINS, WATERS TALLY 20-POINT PERFORMANCES
Junior guard Trevor Hudgins notched his third 20-point scoring game of the season against Sioux Falls and sophomore Luke Waters notched his first 20-point game of the year against Arkansas-Monticello.
    Hudgins has posted 54 career 20-point scoring games.

    Junior guard Trevor Hudgins leads the nation in free throws made (25). Hudgins is 25-of-27 at the free throw line this season.

'CATS, MCCOLLUM ROLLING IN BIG VICTORIES
Under head coach Ben McCollum the Bearcats are 120-2 in games decided by 20 points or more.
    Northwest has won 118 consecutive games when the final scoring margin is 20 or more points. The last time the Bearcats lost a game by 20 points or more came Jan. 20, 2010, when Missouri Southern posted an 88-63 win in Joplin, Missouri.

Northwest has posted a spectacular mark of 100-4 over the past four seasons and has won both of the national championships that have been contested.

HUDGINS BECOMES THIRD BEARCATS TO REACH 2,000 POINTS
Junior guard Trevor Hudgins became the third Northwest men's basketball player to reach 2,000 career points. Hudgins has posted 2,022 points in his career and trails only Justin Pitts (2,459) and Ryan Hawkins (2,098) on Northwest's all-time scoring chart.

HUDGINS EYES SCHOOL SCORING MARK
Junior guard Trevor Hudgins is looking to become Northwest's all-time leading scorer this season. Hudgins enters this week with 2,022 career points.
    Junior Diego Bernard became the 26th Bearcat to reach 1,000 career points in the program's history in the 2020-21 season. Bernard ranks No. 16 on the scoring list with 1,260 points.
    Bernard became the 11th Bearcat under head coach Ben McCollum to reach the 1,000-point mark.

MCCOLLUM SECURES 300TH WIN IN TITLE GAME
Northwest Missouri State head coach Ben McCollum secured his 300th coaching victory in Northwest's 80-54 win over West Texas A&M in the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship game.
    In his 13th season at the helm of the Bearcat program, McCollum has led Northest to a record of 303-79.
    His winning percentage of .793 ranks No. 3 among NCAA Division II coaches and No. 6 among all NCAA Division coaches (minimum of 10 years experience).

ABREU NETS CAREER-HIGH VS SIOUX FALLS
Redshirt freshman Daniel Abreu scored a career-high 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor. He was perfect at the line by making all eight free throws.

41 FREE THROW ATTEMPTS
Northwest attempted 41 free throws in its 64-59 win over No. 21-ranked Seattle Pacific. It was the most free throws attempted since also getting 41 free throw tries against Missouri Southern on March 1, 2007.
    Northwest connected on 29-of-41 at the free throw line against Seattle Pacific. Junior guard Trevor Hudgins led the way by making 15-of-16 at the charity stripe.

ONE THREE-POINTER
Northwest went 1-of-9 from three-point range in its 64-59 win over No. 21-ranked Seattle Pacific. It is the fewes made three-pointers by the Bearcats since they went 1-of-15 against Southwest Minnesota State in the NCAA Tournament on March 14, 2017.

Northwest had to climb out of a pair of deficits to defeat both No. 15 Northern State and No. 21 Seattle Pacific at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.
    Northern State had an eight-point first-half lead against Northwest before the Bearcats charged back. Northwest trailed by four at the half, 30-26, but stormed back with a 42-25 scoring advantage in the final 20 minutes.
    Seattle Pacific held a seven-point lead in the first half against Northwest at 12-5. Northwest used a 14-0 run to take the look and never trailed again.

SMALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Northwest had both Trevor Hudgins and Wes Dreamer named to the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic All-Tournament team.
    Hudgins posted back-to-back 20-point scoring games with 22 against Northern State and 27 vs. Seattle Pacific.
    Dreamer tallied a 20-point game vs. Northern State and a double-double vs. Seattle Pacific.

BEARCATS CLAIM 8TH STRAIGHT MIAA CROWN
Northwest captured its eighth straight MIAA regular season crown in the 2020-21 season.
    Over the last eight seasons, Northwest has compiled a league mark of 142-16.
    Over the last five seasons in MIAA play, Northwest has a record of 92-6 against league foes.
