NORTHWEST TAKES ON NEWMAN, CENTRAL OKLAHOMA IN BEARCAT ARENA
The Bearcat women's basketball team is set to meet Newman and Central Oklahoma in Bearcat Arena this week. This will mark just the second time the Bearcats have met the Jets since they joined the conference in 2019.
When the Bearcats meet the Bronchos, it will mark the two teams' 12th overall meeting since 2011 and 11th match up since Central Oklahoma joined the MIAA in 2012. The Bearcats are 6-6 all time against the Bronchos, and 5-6 in MIAA match ups.

LAST TIME VS. NEWMAN
In a late January contest, the Bearcats edged the Jets, 70-67, in double overtime.
Mallory McConkey led Northwest with 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists while
Jaelyn Haggard chipped in 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point land.
ABOUT THE JETS (3-7)
Senior guard Brooke Haney is averaging 12.8 ppg 41.1 percent shooting from the floor, including 48.5 percent shooting from 3-point range. Junior forward Faith Mason-Vestal is also averaging 10.3 ppg on 47.6 percent shooting from the floor. Senior forward Abbey George and sophomore forward Madison Birnbaum have each recorded 53 rebounds on the season. Birnbaum has also recorded 13 steals and 12 blocks.

LAST TIME VS. CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
The last Bearcat win of the 2019-20 season came from Northwest's win over Central Oklahoma in the first round of the MIAA tournament.
Jaelyn Haggard went off for Northwest, scoring 24 points on 6-of-10 shooting, 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range.
Mallory McConkey had a big game as well, scoring 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor, pulling down six rebounds and recording two blocks as well. Haggard and McConkey also each went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.

As a team, Northwest shot 43.8 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from 3-point land. The Bearcats also went 20-for-22 from the free throw line (90.9 percent).

Since 2011, the Bearcats are 6-6 against the Bronchos, with their last loss to Central Oklahoma coming on Dec. 7, 2017 in a 57-53 contest.

ABOUT THE BROCHOS (6-3)
Central Oklahoma returns leading scorer and rebounder from a season ago in senior forward Kelsey Johnson (21.3 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 9 blocks). Johnson currently ranks second behind Tre'Zure Jobe (Emporia State, 21.8 ppg) in top conference scoring.

Johnson is also shooting 60.0 percent from the floor and 84.8 percent from the charity stripe. While the Bronchos lost their second and third leading scorers from a season ago, they return plenty of offensive weapons.

Junior guard Brooke Rayner is contributing 10.0 ppg on 50.0 percent shooting from the floor while sophomore guard Jacie Littell returns after a breakout freshman season where she averaged 8.3 ppg. Currently, Littell is averaging 8.4 ppg while recording 18 assists on the season. Freshman guard Avery Allen has dished out 41 assists this season while averaging 4.8 ppg.
