LAST TIME VS. FORT HAYS STATE
The late January 2020 match up between the Bearcats and Tigers in Bearcat Arena favored the visitors, 70-59. Despite dropping the contest, Northwest held a 32-25 advantage at half time, but the Tigers responded in the third quarter by outscoring the Bearcats 25-13. Senior guard
Kylie Coleman scored 17 points and
Mallory McConkey added 15 in the loss. Senior forward
Ellie Horn also pulled down five rebounds in the contest. Northwest did limit Fort Hays to 40.4 percent shooting from the floor and 11.8 percent shooting from 3-point land.
Â
ABOUT THE TIGERS
The Fort Hays women's basketball team returns their leading scorer from the previous season in junior guard Jaden Hobbs. Hobbs averages 12.6 ppg and leads the team with 40 assists and 22 steals through eight games. After Hobbs, the Tigers have lost their next three scorers from 2019-20. Fort Hays has been having no problem scoring though, as they lead the MIAA in points scored per game (605 points, 75.6 ppg). Senior guard Whitney Randall is scoring 15.4 ppg and freshman guard Katie Wagner averages 9.1 ppg. Wagner has also pulled down 56 rebounds (7.0 rpg) and recorded 23 assists.
LAST TIME VS. NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
In a late January 2020 match up in Bearcat Arena, the Lopers offense exploded in the first quarter, scoring 24 points. The Bearcats only managed to score nine points in the quarter, a deficit they would not be able to overcome by dropping the contest, 75-51.
Â
ABOUT THE LOPERS
The lone unbeaten team in the MIAA has been able to stifle opponents' offense, holding teams to a conference best of 50.1 ppg. While no Loper has averaged double digits in scoring yet this season, the points are coming from all over. The top seven scorers average 5.0 ppg or more while shooting 42.7 percent from the floor.
