BOX SCORE (PDF)

The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team improved to 4-2 on the season with a 9-7 triumph at Ouachita Baptist on Saturday.

Ouachita Baptist dented the scoreboard in the first with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.

Northwest bounced back in the second with a two-run double from junior college transfer Donovan Warren. Warren's knock plated Ryan Koski and Jordan Peck to give the Bearcats a 2-2 advantage.

Single runs in the third and fourth put the Tigers back on top, 4-3.

The reigning MIAA player of the week Matt Gastner used the long ball to even it up at 3-3 in the fifth.

Senior Connor Quick drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth to lift Northwest into the lead at 4-3.

Peck launched a solo homer in the seventh to push the Bearcat lead to 5-3.

However, the Tigers retook the lead with a three-run homer in the seventh from Tyler Riebock. Riebock's home run gave OBU a 6-5 lead.

The Bearcats trailed 6-5 going into the ninth inning but rallied to score four in their last at bat. Peter Carlson led off the ninth with a strikeout, but Peck followed with a double and Koski drew a walk. Redshirt freshman Chase Broeker struck out leaving the Bearcats only a single out to play with. Warren drew a walk to load the bases to set up the two-out drama for the Bearcats.

Junior Jacob Pinkerton laced a double that scored Joseph Curtis, who had pinch run for Koski, and Peck to give Northwest a 7-6 lead. Calvin Rudolph produced a two-run single that scored Pinkerton and Warren to make it 9-6 in Northwest's favor.

OBU scored a run on a sac bunt in the ninth to finish the scoring and giving Northwest the 9-7 triumph.
