The Northwest Missouri State softball team kicks off its 2020 season this Friday-Sunday with a five-game series in Mankato, Minnesota in the Minnesota State D-II Softball Classic.

The Bearcats are led into another season under head coach
Ryan Anderson, who is entering his 14th year as head coach for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats enter the season occupying the 12th spot in the Preseason MIAA Coaches Poll (52 points).
The Bearcats will feature key returnees in seniors
Kaitlyn Weis,
Sydne Brashear,
Karli Allen,
Erin Keeney and
Rachel Smith.
Weis earned All-MIAA honorable mention last season and led the MIAA in slugging percentage (.776). Weis also topped the Bearcats in batting average (.383), doubles (10), home runs (10), total bases (83), walks (14), on-base percentage (.455) and assists (59).
Brashear had a .267 batting average, seven doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI.
Allen batted a .266 average, two doubles, nine home runs and 23 RBI.
Keeney had a .280 batting average, four doubles, a triple, six home runs and 34 RBI.
Smith had a 5.47 ERA, 96 innings pitched and two complete games.
