MARYVILLE, Missouri - The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat baseball team picked up a 14-4 run-rule win over the visiting Northeastern State RiverHawks on Saturday.

Northwest's victory snapped an eight-game losing skid as the Bearcats pounded out 17 hits. It's the fourth time this season that Northwest has scored 10 or more runs.

Connor Quick had a four-hit day and scored three runs to lead the Bearcat offense. Matt Gastner connected on three hits and scored a pair of runs. Jordan Peck and Ryan Koski each drove in a team-high three runs.

The Bearcats opened the scoring with a four-run third. Northwest loaded the bases with no outs and proceeded to bring in all three separately with a groundout, wild pitch and sacrifice fly. Peck would knock in the fourth run of the inning as the Bearcats hit around the order.

The RiverHawks got to Bearcat starter Spencer Hanson in the fifth. NSU chased Hanson with two outs in the fifth. Hanson gave up four hits through the first four innings, but allowed three hits and a walk in the fifth. Heath Slocum came in with the tying run at second and NSU's Wes O'Neill greeted him with an RBI double that tied the game at 4-4. Slocum was credited with the win.

Northwest responded in the bottom half of the fifth when Peck delivered a two-out, two-RBI double that plated Peter Carlson and Gastner. Peck's hit gave Northwest a 6-4 advantage.

Slocum would stymie the RiverHawks and keep them off the board in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Bearcats exploded for an eight-run seventh that closed out the game at 14-4. The Bearcats first six batters reached on five hits and a walk to start the seventh. Ryan Koski got the scoring going in the seventh with a three-run double as the floodgates opened. Northwest batted around in the seventh as 12 Bearcats got a chance to hit.

Northwest will be back in action for a series-deciding game three Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
