NO. 1 'CATS RETURN FAVOR, HOST MO. SOUTHERN, PSU
The No. 1-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team (24-1 overall, 14-1 MIAA) will play a pair of return home games this week against No. 17 Missouri Southern (Thursday, 7:30 p.m.) and Pittsburg State (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.).
   Thursday will be Student Organization Night in Bearcat Arena presented by Planet Sub, Carson's Sports Grille and The Student Body.
   The first 400 Bearcat students will receive a free t-shirt on Thursday. A $200 gift certificate will be issued to the most spirited student organization that can be used to purchase t-shirts for their organization.
   There will also be two chances to win 250 wings for student organizations.
   Saturday will be Northwest Staff Appreciation Day in Bearcat Arena.
NORTHWEST VS. MISSOURI SOUTHERN ALL-TIME SERIES
Northwest owns a 35-24 lead in the all-time series with Missouri Southern.
   Northwest posted a 96-75 win against then No. 14-ranked Missouri Southern in Joplin last Thursday.
   Of Northwest's six losses over the previous four seasons, three have come against the Lions.
BEARCATS ALL-TIME VS PSU
Northwest holds a 67-63 lead over Pittsburg State in the all-time series between the two schools.
   Northwest has won nine straight matchups in the series, including last Saturday's 95-60 win in Pittsburg, Kansas.
NORTHWEST LOOKING FOR 7TH STRAIGHT MIAA CROWN
Northwest has won six consecutive MIAA regular season titles and is one league win away from running the streak to seven in a row.
   Over the last seven seasons, Northwest has compiled a league mark of 117-15.
   Coming into this season, Northwest was averaging 17.2 MIAA wins and 2.0 losses per year since the start of its six-year title run.
   Over the last four seasons in MIAA play, Northwest has a record of 67-5 against league foes.

Luke Waters tallied a career-high 19 points and was perfect from the field in Northwest's 96-75 win at Missouri Southern.
   Waters went 8-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-3 from three-point range against the Lions. Waters also grabbed four rebounds to go along with an assist and a steal. Waters did not commit a turnover in his nearly 31 minutes of court time.
HUDGINS SNARES 4TH MIAA ATHLETE OF WEEK
Trevor Hudgins has earned his fourth MIAA men's basketball athlete of the week award. Hudgins is sharing this week's honor with Missouri Southern's Cam Martin.
   Hudgins averaged 30.5 points per game and shot 65.6% from the field (21-32), including an astounding 63.2% from three-point range (12-of-19). Hudgins drained 77.8% of his free throws and averaged 4.5 assists per game as Northwest picked up two road victories over Missouri Southern (96-75) and Pittsburg State (95-60).
   Hudgins poured in a game-high 33 points on 10-of-19 shooting in a 21-point win at No. 14-ranked Missouri Southern. Hudgins knocked in 7-of-13 three-pointers and 6-of-7 free throws in the triumph. Hudgins handed out six assists to go along with two turnovers in 40 minutes of action.
   Hudgins recorded his sixth straight 20-plus point scoring game with a game-high 28 points at Pittsburg State. Hudgins went 11-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range against the Gorillas. Hudgins dished out six assists against one turnover in 31 minutes of action.

Northwest moved back to No. 1 in the nation in the Jan. 28 NABC Division II Top 25 Poll. Northwest has been ranked No. 1 in the nation in four consecutive seasons.
   Northwest has spent 30 weeks ranked No. 1 in the nation in the NABC poll. Northwest was first ranked No. 1 on Jan. 13, 2004.

The Feb. 18 NABC Division II Top 25 poll marks the 28th straight week that Northwest has been ranked in the top five.
NINE STRAIGHT 20-WIN YEARS
Northwest eclipsed the 20-win mark for the ninth straight year.
   Going into the 2019-2020 season, Northwest was one of five NCAA Division II schools to have won 20 or more games in eight straight seasons. Northwest (9), West Liberty (16), Indiana Pa. (12) and Lincoln Memorial (11) have extended their steak of 20-win seasons in 2019-2020.
   Bellarmine (11) is also looking to extend its 20-win season streak.
DOUGHERTY, WELTY = WINS

Tyler Dougherty and
Ryan Welty have led Northwest to a mark of 124-6 in their careers.
   The duo is closing in on the Northwest career wins mark of 127 set by
Dray Starzl from 2015-2019.
   Northwest went 35-1 in 2016-17 and won the program's first national title. The Bearcats went 27-4 in 2017-18, before going 38-0 and winning their second national crown in 2018-19. Northwest is 24-1 to start the 2019-20 season.

Ryan Welty continued his hot shooting at Missouri Southern by making 4-of-5 field goals.
   Welty has made 23-of-33 field goals (69.7%) in the last eight games. He's also shooting 17-of-26 (65.4%) from three-point range in his last eight.

Luke Waters has upped his game since joining the starting lineup.
   Over his 10 starts, Waters is averaging 10.3 points per game and has eclipsed the double-figuring scoring mark in five of the contests (including a career-high 19 points at Missouri Southern). Waters is shooting 70.4% from the field (38-of-54). He has also drained 11-of-18 three-pointers.
   For the season, Waters is averaging 7.8 points per game and shooting 57.8% from the field.

Ryan Hawkins are pouring in points at a high rate as both have eclipsed the 500-point scoring mark this season. Hawkins has posted 568 points, while Hudgins sits at 500 entering this week's play.
   Hudgins has scored 20 or more in six straight games. Hudgins lit up Lincoln for a career-high 36 points and followed it up with a game-high 33 points at No. 14 Missouri Southern.
   Hawkins has scored 20 or more in five of his last six games. Hawkins collected three consecutive double-double performances, while also reaching 20-plus points in his double-doubles against Central Missouri, Lincoln and Missouri Southern.
