Bearcats take apart Gorillas, 95-60

PITTSBURG, Kansas - The No. 1-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team shot 62.1% from the field and rolled to a 95-60 road victory over the Pittsburg State Gorillas.

Northwest (24-1 overall, 14-1 MIAA) moved its win streak to 16 in a row. Pittsburg State fell to 9-15 overall and 5-10 in the MIAA.

The Bearcats shot better than 60 percent for the fifth time this season. Northwest buried 19-of-25 shots in the first half and shot 76% from the floor and led 49-23 at the break.

Sophomore Trevor Hudgins led all scorers with 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting. Hudgins sank 5-of-6 from three-point range, while also handing out six assists.

Junior Ryan Hawkins tallied 23 points and nine rebounds. Hawkins went 8-of-11 from the field and added three steals along with three blocks and a steal.

Senior Tyler Dougherty contributed with a season-high 14 points and notched seven rebounds. 

Sophomore Diego Bernard scored seven points, dished out eight assists, tallied five rebounds and added two steals on his stat sheet.

Northwest led by as many as 43 at 86-43.

The Gorillas shot 20-of-59 (33.9%) and struggled from beyond the arc by hitting only 3-of-16 from distance.

The Bearcats will be back in action at home Thursday against Missouri Southern at 7:30 p.m.
