Bearcats fall to Lions 67-61

JOPLIN, Missouri - The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team lost the Missouri Southern Lions 67-61 on the road. The Bearcats struggled from the field only shooting 38.5% on the night but shot 41.4% from behind the arc. Northwest allowed 28 points in the paint and only scored 16. 

Mallory McConkey led the Bearcats with a season-high 19 points, six rebounds and three assists. Paityn Rau and Kylie Coleman also had six rebounds and Kendey Eaton also had three assists. Coleman and Jaelyn Haggard were also in double figures for the Bearcats with 12 points each. Haggard continued her hot stretch from three-point land going 4-6 from behind the arc. 

Destiny Cozart led the Lions with 21 points, followed by Madi Stokes with 13 and Kaiulani Jones with 11. Stokes added 10 rebounds to give herself a double-double on the game. The Lions outrebounded the Bearcats 35-31. 

Northwest will be back in action on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Pittsburg State.
