MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats fell to the Missouri Western Griffons 71-53 at home. The Bearcats struggled offensively only shooting 35% from the field. The Bearcats got off to an extremely slow start defensively, allowing 27 points in the first quarter, and only allowed 44 the rest of the game. Northwest was outrebounded 48-20, and gave up 15 offensive rebounds.Â
The Bearcats were led in scoring by
Kylie Coleman with 15 points, followed by
Mallory McConkey with 14 points.
Kylie Coleman added three steals and four rebounds. The Bearcats made all six free throws that they attempted.Â
Missouri Western had four scorers in double figures led by Corbyn Cunningham with 21, followed by Anastacia Johnson with 14, and Katrina Roenfeldt and Simone Walker with 10 each. Cunningham added 10 rebounds to get herself a double-double on the night. Cunningham also led the Griffons with six assists.Â
The Bearcats will be back in action against Nebraska-Kearney in Bearcat Arena this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
