JOPLIN, Missouri - The No. 11-ranked Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team downed the Missouri Southern Lions in three sets on Saturday afternoon.
Northwest won by set scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-20. The victory improved Northwest to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in MIAA play.
Juniors
Morgan Lewis,
Hallie Sidney and
Maddy Ahrens paced the Bearcat offensive attack against the Lions. Lewis hit .522 with 13 kills. Sidney recorded 11 kills and a service ace. Ahrens was credited with 37 assists and an ace.
Northwest hit .412 in the opening set as the Bearcats never trailed and scored a 25-17 victory.
The Bearcats sided out at 82 percent in the second set while hitting .286.
Northwest closed out the three-set win by hitting .314 with 13 kills and two errors in the third set.
The Bearcats will be back in action Friday at 6 p.m. in Bearcat Arena against Fort Hays State.
