FULTON, Missouri - The No. 49-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to No. 9-ranked William Woods University on Friday.
William Woods moved to 19-2 in dual action as an NAIA school in 2018-19. Northwest fell to 10-9 in dual action.
Northwest won at No. 2 doubles with an 8-0 score from
Fabien Calloud and
Franco Oliva. It's the eighth straight doubles win for Calloud and Oliva dating back to mid-March. As a pair, Calloud and Oliva are 10-1 in dual play.
Oliva, ranked No. 17, captured his 25th singles win of the year with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over WWU's Javier Callejo at No. 1 singles.
Calloud, ranked No. 40, won in singles for the seventh time in eigth tries with a 6-1, 6-2 win over WWU's Antoine Maraval.
Rahul Manoah scored Northwest's other singles win on the day with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles against WWU's Jesus Amezcua. It was Mahoah's fifth win in six matches.
Northwest will take on Washington (Mo.) Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Louis.
