MARYVILLE, Missouri - The UMKC Kangaroos scored a 4-3 dual win over the Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team at the Frank Grube Tennis Courts on Wednesday.
UMKC, under the direction of Bearcat alum Kendell Hale, was able to secure the doubles' point by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Franco Oliva and
Fabien Calloud paired up to win at No. 2 doubles for the Bearcats.
Oliva, ranked No. 13 in the latest NCAA Division II men's singles rankings, defeated UMKC's top gun Tom Kruse at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Louis Compas notched a three-set win over UMKC's Hunter Clark at No. 5 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Bjorn Kurtze also went three sets for a victory at No. 6 singles vs. UMKC's Anil Patel, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
UMKC's Neil O'Connor outlasted Northwest's
Rahul Manoah, 6-4, 7-6 with a 20-18 victory in the second-set tiebreaker.
