The Northwest Missouri State University softball team is back in action this week with games scheduled every day starting Wednesday through Sunday.
The Bearcats have battled the weather so far this spring and have played only 12 games, with the last game action having took place on March 8.
The Bearcats will take on Missouri Western Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. in St. Joseph.
The Missouri Western Tournament starts Thursday with Northwest playing Northern State at 4 p.m. The Bearcats then play at 2 p.m. Friday against Winona State. Another follows that game at 6 p.m. Saturday against Augustana, and finishing up the tournament Sunday at 11 a.m. against Minot State.
Kaitlyn Weis leads the team in hitting with a .417 average. Weis also tops the squad in runs (10), hits (15), home runs (4) and RBI (12).
Erin Keeney ranks second on the squad with two homers and 10 RBI.
Regan Thompson has two victories and has struck out a team-high 25 batters.
The Bearcats sit at 3-9 overall and 0-4 in MIAA play this season.
