OPENING WEEKEND REMATCHES
Northwest will play the Wayne State Wildcats and the Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles to start the regular season for the second year in a row. Last year the Bearcats lost to the Wildcats 75-58 in the season opener last season. Kendey Eaton and Jaelyn Haggard led the Bearcats in scoring with 17 for Eaton and 16 for Haggard. The Bearcats lost to the Golden Eagles 79-71. Eaton led the game in scoring with 26.

OPENER STRUGGLES
The Bearcats look to win just their second opener in seven years and their first since 2016, when the Bearcats defeated Ouachita Baptist 78-70. 

LAST TIME OUT
In their last game the Bearcats lost an exhibition contest to UMKC, 69-58. Kendey Eaton led the Bearcats with 25 points and went 10-11 from the charity stripe. Paityn Rau led the team with seven rebounds. 

RETURNERS
Northwest returns six players that started multiple games last year. The Bearcats return their top-three leading scorers Kendey Eaton (12.7), Jaelyn Haggard (12.1) and Mallory McConkey (8.8) . McConkey also led the team in rebounds (5.7). They also return top-four assist leaders Erika Schlosser, Eaton, Haggard and McConkey. 

NEWCOMERS
The Bearcat roster has six incoming freshman: Chaise Pfanstiel, Jayna Green, Savannah Guenther, Kayla Chapman, Paityn Rau and Emma Atwood. Northwest also added a transfer in junior Ellie Horn.
