KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The No. 20-ranked Northwest Missouri State Bearcats advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 MIAA Volleyball Tournament with a three-game sweep of the Missouri Western Griffons.
Northwest won by set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 27-25. Northwest moves to 21-8 on the season, while Missouri Western ends its season at 17-13.
Junior
Morgan Lewis led the Bearcat attack with 11 kills and hit .435. Senior
Genny Cruz notched nine kills to help the Bearcats advance to Friday.

Hallie Sidney notched her 17th double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs.
Maddy Ahrens and
Alyssa Rezac shared the setting duties and each posted 19 assists.
Sophie McMullen secured a team-high 18 digs.
Northwest will take on No. 2-ranked and undefeated Nebraska-Kearney at 5 p.m. Friday in the MIAA Tournament semifinals.
NOTES: It was the first MIAA Tournament victory for Northwest since Nov. 13, 1992 when the Bearcats scored a 3-1 win over Washburn (15-10, 15-6, 9-15, 15-5) in Emporia, Kansas ... Northwest has scored five consecutive wins over Missouri Western.
