The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team (5-3 overall) will wrap up non-conference play this week by taking part in the Jet Classic at Fugate Gymnasium hosted by Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.

Northwest is 4-0 all-time vs. Ouachita Baptist with the last meeting between the two teams coming in the 2009 season.

The Bearcats are 6-0 all-time vs. Newman University. Northwest is 4-0 on neutral courts and 2-0 at home against Newman. It will mark the first match Northwest has played at Newman in Wichita, Kansas.

Northwest is 1-2 vs. St. Edward's with the last matchup coming in 2011 in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Maddy Bruder (Firth, Neb.) was named to the Rockhurst Classic All-Tournament team. Bruder led the Bearcats with 71 kills (4.18 kills/set) in the four matches. Bruder notched a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs vs. Colorado Mesa. Bruder then produced back-to-back 20-plus kill performances against Sioux Falls (21 kills, .545) and at Rockhurst (25, .296). On the season, Bruder is tied for second in the MIAA in kills per set (4.00).

Bruder has tallied a team-best three double-doubles this season. Bruder has recorded 45 career double-doubles.

Bruder has accrued 1,318 career kills and needs four more kills to surpass Sarah Trowbridge (2003-2006) and Nancy Pfeifler (1985-1988), who both posted 1,321 kills in their Bearcat volleyball careers. Diann Davis (1994-1997) holds the Northwest career record with 1,740 kills.

Amy Woerth has posted 97 career victories heading into the action this weekend at the Jet Classic. Woerth is looking to become the fourth Northwest volleyball coach to reach 100 career victories – Sarah Pelster (199 from 1991-2002), Pam Stanek (176 from 1977-1981) and Susie Homan (105 from 1982-1984).
