TOPEKA, Kansas - The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball squad moved to 3-0 on the season with a three-game sweep of Henderson State at the Washburn Invitational. The Bearcats won by set scores of 25-8, 25-14, 25-15.
For the third straight match, Northwest hit better than .300 with a .390 hitting percentage. Northwest recorded 50 kills against only nine attack errors against Henderson State.
Northwest also recorded an 84-percent sideout effort in the victory. Northwest was nearly perfect siding out in the opening two sets - going 8-of-9 in in the first and 13-of-14 in the second.
The offensive effort was balanced and led by senior
Maddy Bruder's 14 kills.
Bethany Elkins notched seven kills (.778), while
Hallie Sidney contribured with 13 kills (.440). Rachael Sturdevant notched six kills (.385).
Sofia Schleppenbach recorded nine kills (.421) and a team-best five blocks.
Olivia Nowakowski paced the defensive performance with a team-high 15 digs.
The Bearcats will be back in action later today at 1 p.m. against Dallas Baptist.
