Bearcats defeat Missouri Western in game one


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team defeated Missouri Western, 8-4, on Wednesday in Maryville, Mo.
- The Bearcats improve to 16-12 overall and 12-5 in conference while the Griffons fall to 14-12 overall and 7-7 in conference play.

Key Northwest Statistics
- Northwest scored two runs in the first, one in the second, two in the fifth, and three in the eighth innnig. Missouri Western had one run in the first, second, third and sixth inning.
- The Bearcats had eight runs on 15 hits and two errors. The Griffons had four runs on seven hits with no errors.
- Hudson Bilodeau finished 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. 
- Landon Figg also went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. 
- Mondesi Gutierrez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, one run scored and a double.
- Aaron Barratt went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, one RBI and a homerun. 
- Derek Hussey was 2-for-4 with one run scored, one stolen base, two RBIs and a triple.
- Luke Hassman went 1-for-4.
- Matt Schingel was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, one RBI and one walk.
- Logan Rycraft finished 1-for-4. 

Key Northwest Innings
- Bilodeau started the bottom of the first inning with a double to left field and then moved up to third on a wild pitch. Gutierrez would then hit a double deep to center field to score Bilodeau. Figg followed it with a single through the right side to score Gutierrez from second and give the Bearcats a 2-1 lead.

- Barratt lead off the second inning with his second homerun on the year to left field to make the score 3-2.

- In the fifth inning, Schingel was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a base hit through the left side by Hussey. Schingel and Hussey came around to score on a single to left center by Gutierrez to put the Bearcats ahead 5-3.

- Figg started the bottom of the eighth inning with a single to center field and after two outs was moved to third on a single to right field by Barratt. Figg came in to score when Schingel singled through the right side. Barratt and Schingel scored on a triple down the right field line by Hussey and gave the Bearcats a 8-4 lead.
