Softball splits with rival Missouri Western


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University softball team split a double header with Missouri Western in Maryville, Mo., on Tuesday.
- The Bearcats fell in the first game, but came back and won the second 1-0.
- Northwest is now 16-10 overall and 7-3 in MIAA play. The Griffons are now 16-19 on the year and 7-3 in conference action.
Game One Key Statistics
- The Griffons scored one run the first, four in the third and three in the fifth inning. 
- The Bearcats had no runs on five hits with two errors. Missouri Western had eight runs on seven hits with no errors.
- Rebecca Maher was 1-for-3 with a double. 
- Jaedra Moses went 1-for-3. 
- Erin Keeney was 1-for-2. 
- Jessica Rawie finished the first game 1-for-1 with a sacrifice hit. 
- Abigail Gilson went 1-for-2. 

Game One Key Innings
- In the top of the second inning, the Bearcats held the Griffons to a three up three down inning. Taylor Blackford struck out the first batter and the next two grounded out to the third basemen and the first basemen. 
Game Two Key Statistics
- Northwest scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Griffons were held scoreless the whole game.
- The Bearcats had one run on four hits with no errors. Missouri Western had no runs on two hits with no errors.
- Moses finished the day going 2-for-3. 
- Gilson went 1-for-2 with one run scored. 
- Kiana Baderdeen was 1-for-2 with one RBI and a double. 
- Rachel Smith threw seven scoreless innings allowed just two hits, one walk and she struck out eight batters.

Game Two Key Innings
- In the top of the fifth inning, Smith had a three up three down inning striking out each batter. 

- Gilson started the bottom of the fifth inning with a single to center field. After two outs, Baderdeen hit a double down the left field line to score Gilson from first to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead.
