Baseball picks up two wins on Saturday

- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team picked up a Saturday sweep of Cameron University at McCord Field in Lawton, Okla.
- The Bearcats won the first game, 3-0, in seven innings and took the second contest, 6-3.
- Northwest moves to 3-5 on the year while the Aggies fall to 6-3.
Game One Key Statistics (Northwest 3, Cameron 0)
- The Bearcats scored all three runs in the third inning on a three-run home run by Landon Figg.
- Joseph Hietpas pitched seven scoreless innings, holding Cameron to just four hits. He struck out eight and issued just one walk.
- Northwest finished with three runs on five hits with no errors. The Aggies had no runs on four hits with one error.
- Logan Rycraft was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
- Figg drove in all three runs with his third inning shot.
- Jay Hrdlicka was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.
- Luke Hassman went 1-for-3.
- Alixon Herrera and Mondesi Gutierrez each reached on walks.

Game One Key Innings
- In the third, Rycraft and Hrdlicka hit back-to-back singles to right to bring up Figg. Figg took a pitch over the right field fence for a three-run blast.

- Hietpas worked perfect second, fifth and sixth innings for Northwest.
Game Two Key Statistics (Northwest 6, Cameron 3)
- The Bearcats scored six runs on eight hits with one error. Cameron had three runs on eight hits with no errors.
- Northwest scored once in the first, twice in the third, once in the fourth and added two more in the eighth. The Aggies had two in the fourth and one in the fifth.
- Brad Roberts got the win, throwing 6.0 innings. He allowed three runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked just two.
- Hrdlicka was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
- Hassman drove in two runs, going 2-for-5.
- Herrera was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.
- Kevin Handzlik went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
- Derek Hussey scored a run, drove in a run and reached on a walk.
- Mondesi Gutierrez was 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.
- Figg scored twice and reached four times on walks.
- Rycraft was 1-for-4.
- Trevor Dudar picked up his second save of the year, working a scoreless ninth frame.
- Quintin Van Ackeren pitched two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just two hits. He struck out one and did not issue a walk.

Game Two Key Innings
- Hrdlicka doubled with one out in the first and scored two batters later on Hassman's single.

- In the third, Hussey walked and Rycraft moved him to second on a sacrifice bunt. Figg drew a one-out walk to put two runners on. Hassman hit a single to center to score Hussey. Herrera followed that up with an RBI single to right ot make it 3-0 Northwest.

- In the fourth, Gutierrez tripled to right to start the game and Hussey drove him in with a sacrifice fly.

- Hrdlicka again started a rally in the eighth with a leadoff single to right. Tim Olson came in to pinch run and went to second after Figg was walked for the third time. Hassman reached on a fielder's choice but the Aggies were unable to record an out which loaded the bases. After a pitching change, Olson scored on a wild pitch from third and Herrera drew a walk to load the bases again. Handzlik singled to center to drive in Figg to make it 6-3, Bearcats.
