LIONS AND TIGERS... BUT NO BEARS
The Bearcats open their conference season at home against the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Thursday. They will be looking to extend their winning streak to three games, a feat that they last accomplished in November of 2016. This task will be tough against a Lincoln team that has already surpassed it's win total from all of last year. Lincoln has 3 scorers averaging double figures and is outscoring opponents by an average of 29.8 points this year. Northwest went 2-0 vs. Lincoln last year.
Next the 5-1 Lindenwood Lions come to town. Coming off a 20 win season last year they are off to a fast start this year as well. Their leading scorer Kallie Bildner is averaging 16.8 points and 8.8 rebounds on 82% shooting so far this year.
Northwest has not defeated Lindenwood since February 2016.
LAST TIME OUT
Northwest defeated Nebraska Christian College 67-48 to make them 2-0 at home on the season and 3-4 overall. The Bearcats forced 22 turnovers and only committed six miscues.
Jaelyn Haggard led the Bearcats in scoring with 21 points and five steals.
Kendey Eaton with 15 and
Kaylani Maiava with 10, were the other Bearcats in double figures.
Mallory McConkey led the team with 8 rebounds and
Erika Schlosser led the team with nine assists. The nine assists in a single game by Schlosser is an MIAA season high.
CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLE
Thursday will be entitled Christmas in the 'Ville. Northwest will offer pictures with Santa Bobby, a Toys-4-Tots toy drive, and free Kool Kats.
