The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team led most of the game but was unable to finish in a close contest with McKendree where they were defeated, 59-55.
Northwest held the lead in the contest for 28:18 but fell victim to 3-of-11 shooting in the fourth quarter and five turnovers.
The game was tied at 53-53 following a
Jaelyn Haggard three-pointer with 1:44 left in regulation. But McKendree answered with a four-point play from Jordan Heberg on the ensuing possession to give the visiting Bearcats a 57-53 lead with 1:22 left on the clock.Â
Northwest allowed 14 offensive rebounds and had 19 turnovers in the game.Â
Northwest was led in scoring by
Kendey Eaton and Haggard with 15 points.
Erika Schlosser led the team with five rebounds. The Bearcats shot 50 percent from the field but was shot 29.4 percent from behind the three-point arc.Â
McKendree had a balanced attack with four people scoring in double figures, including Jordan Morton who had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. They only shot 39.7 percent from the field but attempted 14 more field goals than Northwest.Â
Northwest will play again vs. Quincy at home Wed., Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. Â
