Baseball falls to Griffons after late rally

Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team fell to Missouri Western, 4-3, on Saturday in the MIAA Tournament at Missouri Southern State University.
- Northwest finishes the year with a 32-20 overall record and will now await an NCAA Tournament bid. Missouri Western improves to 31-19.
- Missouri Southern's Warren Turner Field in Joplin, Mo., is serving as the host site for this year's tournament.
- The 32 victories this year are the most by any Bearcat team since the 2005 season when Northwest won 34.

Key Northwest Statistics
- Northwest scored two in the first and one in the sixth. The Griffons scored two in the second and two in the eighth.
- The Bearcats had three runs on 10 hits with no errors. Missouri Western had four runs on seven hits with one error.
- James Holler went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk.
- Garrett Fort had a double, going 1-for-5 with a run scored.
- Landon Figg went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
- Alixon Herrera was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Key Northwest Innings
- Fort started the first inning with a ground-rule double down the left field line. After a groundout, Figg singled to center to put runners on the corners. Holler drove in the game's first run with a single into right, scoring Fort. Herrera took the first pitch he saw into right for an RBI single to drive in Figg, making it 2-0 Northwest.

- With one down in the sixth, Hrdlicka hit a ground rule double down the left field line. After Tim Olson came in to pinch run for Hrdlicka, Handzlik laced an RBI double to the gap in right center, giving Northwest a 3-2 lead.
