Emporia State wins double header on Friday


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team fell to Emporia State in a Friday double header at Glennen Field at the Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia, Kan.
- The Hornets took the first game, 10-4, and won the second contest, 15-5.
- Northwest falls to 27-18 overall and 16-16 in MIAA play. Emporia State improves to 37-9 overall and 26-6 in conference action.
Game One Key Statistics (Emporia State 10, Northwest 4)
- Northwest scored on in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the seventh. The Hornets scored two in the first, two in the second, five in the third and one in the seventh.
- The Bearcats had four runs on 10 hits with two errors. Emporia State had 10 runs on 11 hits with no errors.
- Kolby Greenslade went 3-for-4 in the first game.
- Kevin Handzlik drove in a run, going 3-for-4.
- Ozzie Adams had a pair of RBIs, coming on a two-run home run in the fifth.
- Garrett Fort scored a run, going 1-for-5.

- Adams launched a two-run homer to left field with one down in the fifth. Rycraft came in to score on the big fly after drawing a leadoff walk.

- In the seventh, Fort led off with a single to right. He went to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a groundout. Figg took an 0-1 pitch down the right field line for a double, scoring Fort.

- The Bearcats scored one in the fourth and four in the seventh. Emporia State had 10 runs in the first and five in the seventh.
- Northwest had five runs on 10 hits with two errors. The Hornets scored 15 runs on 12 hits with no errors.
- Landon Figg was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Adams went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Greenslade was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. He was also hit by a pitch.
- Holler had a three run home run and also reached on a walk.
- Austin Wulff was 1-for-2.
- Alixon Herrera went 1-for-3 with a walk.
- Fort drew a pair of walks and scored a run.
- Handzlik had an RBI and also had a sacrifice.
- Eddy Kraber worked 4.0 innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit. He walked two and struck out one.
- Bryce Shea worked a flawless sixth frame, retiring all three batters he faced, recording one strikeout.

Game Two Key Innings
- Greenslade led off the fourth with a double to right. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Greenslade came around to score on a Handzlik groundout to third.

- With one out in the seventh, Fort drew a walk and Adams singled to right. Figg took the first pitch he saw into center for an RBI single. With two on, Holler launched a home run over the right field fence to score Figg and Adams.
