Baseball falls to Griffons on Tuesday

- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team fell to Missouri Western, 5-1, on Tuesday at Bearcat Field in Maryville, Mo.
- Northwest is now 24-15 overall and 13-13 in MIAA play. The Griffons improve to 22-17 on the year and 19-10 in conference action.

- Northwest scored its lone run in the first inning. The Griffons had two in the second, two in the third and one in the fifth.
- The Bearcats had one run on six hits with no errors. Missouri Western had five runs on six hits with two errors.
- Luke Hassman was 1-for-3 with a double.
- Garrett Fort drew a pair of walks and scored a run in the first.
- Alixon Herrera was 1-for-3 with a walk.

- Fort led off the first with a walk after falling behind 0-2. Adams moved him to second with a single up the middle. Figg hit a grounder to first but Adams was able to beat the throw to second on the fielder's choice to load the bases. After an out, Hrdlicka hit a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Fort to tag up and score from third.

- Northwest will continue the home stand with a 3 p.m. game on Friday, April 21, against Central Oklahoma. The three-game series will include a 2 p.m. game on Saturday and a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
