Baseball takes two from Oklahoma Christian


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday over Oklahoma Christian at Dobson Field in Edmond, Okla.
- The Bearcats took the first game, a seven-inning affair, 7-1. Northwest then captured the nine-inning second game, 6-4.
- Anthony Caenepeel picked up his third win of the year in the first game. He went the full 7.0 innings, allowing just one run on eight hits. He struck out eight and walked one.
- Northwest is now 8-2 on the year while Oklahoma Christian falls to 5-5.
 
Game One Key Statistics (Northwest 7, Oklahoma Christian 1)
- The Bearcats scored one in the first, five in the fifth and one in the seventh. The Eagles got a single run in the seventh inning.
- Northwest finished the first game with seven runs on nine hits while Oklahoma Christian had one run on eight hits. Neither team committed an error.
- Ozzie Adams was 1-for-3 with three RBIs, a run scored and a walk.

Game One Key Innings
- Fort led off the game with a double to center. Two batters later, Figg grounded out to first and Fort was able to score from third, putting Northwest up, 1-0.

- In the fifth inning, Hassman singled to lead off and went to third on a Herrera double. After an out, Fort was intentionally walked to load the bases. Adams came to the plate and hit a bases-clearing triple down the left field line. Figg followed that up with a single to center, scoring Adams, prompting a pitching change. Holler continued the run with a double down the right field line, scoring Figg to make it 6-0 Bearcats.

- Fort again found his way on base in the seventh, drawing a walk. After a walk and a double play, Fort ended up on second and would come around to score on a Holler single to center, making it 7-0.
 
Game Two Key Statistics (Northwest 6, Oklahoma Christian 4)
- The Bearcats scored all six runs in the first inning. Oklahoma Christian scored one in the first, two in the seventh and one in the eighth.
- Northwest had six runs on 12 hits with two errors. The Eagles scored four runs on nine hits with two errors.
- Handzlik was 2-for-5 with a run scored.
- Jay Hrdlicka was 2-for-4 in the second game.
- Hassman was 2-for-3 with a run scored. He was also hit by a pitch.
- Fort was 1-for-5 with a walk and a run scored.
- Holler went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two walks and a run scored.
- Adams went 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs, a walk and a run scored.
- Figg was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.
- Brad Roberts started on hill and went 6.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out five.
- Eddy Kraeber worked 2.0 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits with a strikeout and no walks.
- Nikko Pablo picked up his third save of the year, working the final inning, allowing a walk with a strikeout.
- Roberts worked perfect fifth and sixth innings before being relieved at the start of the seventh.

Game Two Key Innings
- In the first, Fort doubled to start the game to left center and scored as Adams switched places with him after a double down the left field line. Figg walked to put two on for Holler. Holler doubled to right center, scoring Figg and Adams to make it 3-0. Handzlik was the fifth Bearcat to come to the plate and reach safely, singling to third on a bunt. A throwing error allowed Holler to score. After an out, Hassman singled to right to put runners on the corners and Herrera drove in Handzlik with a single to left, forcing an Eagle pitching change. Logan Rycraft drew a walk to load the bases and after a strike out, Adams drew a walk to force in Hassman to make it 6-0.
