Adams' seventh inning blast leads Northwest

- The Northwest Missouri State University softball team went 1-1 on Saturday at the Arkansas-Monticello Division II Softball Challenge in Bentonville, Ark.
- The Bearcats fell to Harding in game one, 1-0, but came back to beat Henderson State, 1-0, in the afternoon session.
- Northwest is now 2-2 on the year after the opening weekend.

- Harding scored the game's lone run in the fifth inning. The Lady Bisons finished with seven hits and no errors. Northwest had three hits and no errors in the game.
- Rachel Smith got the start and threw the complete 7.0 innings. She allowed seven hits and one run. She struck out two batters while walking four.
- Harding improved to 5-0 on the year with the win.

- Torri Blythe, Rebecca Maher and Alexis Kelsey all went 1-for-3.

- The Northwest came up with a pair of key defensive stops at the plate. Blythe threw a runner out who was trying to tag from third after she made a diving catch in foul territory. Kaitlin Weis threw out a runner at the plate off a relay from Maher in the first inning.
