Key Northwest Sequences
- Trailing 16-12 in the second set, Northwest battled back to score 13 of the next 18 points to take a two-set lead. Two errors by SBU pulled Northwest to within two at 16-14. After giving a point back to make 17-14, Sunderman got a kill and Northwest forced an attacking error to make it 17-16. Foster would tie it up on the next sequence, forcing a Southwest Baptist timeout. SBU came back with a point but Bruder answered to tie it at 19-19. Another exchange of points tied the match 19-19 before Northwest would go on to score three-straight points off kills from Williams, Foster and Bruder to take control of the set. Northwest would not trail for the remainder heading into the break.
- In the third set, up 15-11, Northwest went on a quick 6-0 run to pull ahead early. Three bad sets from SBU contributed to the run along with kills from Williams and Foster to put Northwest up, 21-11. But SBU wouldn't go away and would force a 22-22 tie late in the set. But
Gaby da Silva put away a ball from Dannettell and two attacking errors from Southwest Baptist gave Northwest the third set and the match.
