Baseball falls to Quincy in non-conference action

- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team dropped an 11-8 non-conference game to Quincy University on Tuesday at Bearcat Field in Maryville, Mo.
- Northwest falls to 24-23 overall while Quincy improves to 34-11 on the year.
- Jake Lewis hit a three-run home run in the first inning to right field.
- Kevin Handzlik drove in three runs on the day. He had a sacrifice fly in the first and a two-RBI single in the seventh.

- Northwest scored four runs in the first and four in the seventh. The Bearcats had eight runs on seven hits with no errors.
- The Hawks scored tow in the first, two in the sixth and seven in the seventh. Quincy finished with 11 runs on 12 hits with no errors.
- James Holler was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He also had a stolen base and was hit by a pitch.
- Ozzie Adams was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.

Key Northwest Innings
- Gotta led off the first with a walk and after an out, Adams singled up the middle to put two runners on. Holler was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Handzlik. Handzlik got a hold of a ball to deep center, allowing all three runners to tag up and advance with Gotta scoring to make it 2-1 Quincy. Down 0-2 in the count, Lewis launched a line drive over the right field fence for a three-run homerun to put Northwest, 4-2.

- With two out in the seventh, Gotta walked and went to second on a Hrdlicka single to left. Adams walked to load the bases to bring up Holler. Holler got down in the count but battled back to hit a two-RBI single to center, scoring Gotta and Hrdlicka. After Holler stole second, Handzlik looped a single to short center to score Adams and Holler.
