Nikko Pablo threw a no-hitter on Tuesday as the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team beat Missouri Western, 6-0, in St. Joseph, Mo.
- Pablo went all nine innings, allowing just three base runners with six strikeouts. He walked just one batter, hit one batter and one reached on an error.
- Northwest improves to 24-19 overall and 19-14 in conference with the win. Missouri Western falls to 31-13 overall and 23-10 in MIAA play.
- Pablo retired 21 straight batters during a stretch between the first and eighth innings. He finished the game by retiring the final four batters.
- The game featured a 49 minute rain delay starting in the bottom of the eighth. The game resumed at 6:32 p.m. after originally being halted at 5:43 p.m.
- Tuesday's game was played at Missouri Western but the Bearcats were designated as the home team.
- Earlier in the day, Pablo was named the
MIAA/AstroTurf's Co-Pitcher of the Week.

- Northwest scored six runs on 12 hits with one error. The Bearcats got one in the first, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.
- The Griffons managed just three base runners all game. Missouri Western committed one error.

Key Northwest Innings
- Gotta led off the first with a double over the right fielder's head. He went to third on a flyout and scored on an Adams single up the middle that hit off the pitcher to make it 1-0 Northwest.
- Holler started the fourth by hitting the first pitch he saw to right field for a single. Handzlik hit a double off the left field wall to put runners on second and third with no outs. After a pitching change, Lewis singled to left to score Holler as Handzlik moved up to third. Barratt drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases prompting the second pitching change of the inning. Fort took a 2-1 pitch just down the right field line for a two-RBI double, scoring Handzlik and Lewis to put Northwest up, 4-0.
- Adams and Holler started the fifth with back-to-back singles to right. Handzlik laid down a bunt that the pitcher bobbled allowing all runners to reach safely. Lewis hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Adams. Barratt grounded out on a bunt to third, allowing Holler to score from third to make it 6-0 Northwest.
Up Next
- Northwest will host the Emporia State Hornets at Bearcat Field for three games. The schedule will now be Thursday at 3 p.m. followed by a double header on Friday starting at noon. Senior day will take place on Friday between games.
