Baseball picks up Friday night win over Wonder Boys

- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team defeated Arkansas Tech, 7-2, on Friday evening.
- The win moves Northwest to 2-3 on the year while the Wonder Boys fall to 3-4 overall.
- The neutral site game was played at Clyde Berry Field on the campus of Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark.
- Joseph Hietpas got the win after going 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs on four hits. He had three strikeouts and walked three batters. He retired nine straight batters midway through the game.
- Jay Hrdlicka was 2-for-3 with 4 RBI, a pair of doubles, a walk and a stolen base.

- Northwest scored seven runs on six hits. The Bearcats scored three runs in the third, two in the fifth and two in the seventh.
- Arkansas Tech scored both of its runs in the second inning. The Wonder Boys were held to just four total hits.

Key Northwest Innings
- Greenslade opened the bottom of the third with a single to right center and moved to second after Gotta drew a walk. Fort reached on a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. After a pop out, Hrdlicka came through with a double to clear the bases to put Northwest up, 3-2.

- Gotta and Fort started the fifth with back-to-back walks. Adams reached on a fielders choice to put runners on first and second with one out. Hrdlicka came up big again with a double down the left field line, scoring Fort from second to make it 4-2. Wulff hit a sacrifice fly scoring Adams to make it 5-2.

- With one out in the seventh, Fort singled to left and moved to second as Adams was hit by a pitch. Fort stole third and scored on an error by the catcher. Adams stole second on the same play and went to third. With two outs, Wulff singled to center, driving in Adams to make it 7-2.

- Northwest will remain in Arkadelphia, Ark., to take on Arkansas Tech again on Saturday at noon.
