Volleyball drops home match to Griffons

Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team fell to Missouri Western, 3-2, on Tuesday evening at Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Mo.
- The No. 25 ranked Bearcats fall to 21-7 overall and 9-7 in conference play. The Griffons improved to 16-13 overall and 8-8 in MIAA action.
- Senior Miranda Foster had 14 kills and 13 digs. She also added four blocks, three service aces and had an assist.
- Maddy Bruder had 14 digs with 10 kills and a block.

Key Northwest Statistics
- Northwest won the first set, 25-16, but dropped the second, 25-23. The Bearcats rebounded with a 25-18 win in the third. The Griffons won the fourth, 25-15, and the fifth set, 15-8.
- Sarah Dannettell had a match-best 39 assists. She added seven digs, six kills, two blocks and recorded a service ace.
- Olivia Nowakowski tied for the match-high with 23 digs. She had three assists and a service ace.
- Alexis Williams hit .385 for the match with seven kills and two blocks.
- Jackie Becker had seven kills with seven blocks, two digs and a service ace.
- Darcy Sunderman had seven kills with three digs and a pair of blocks.

Key Northwest Sequences
- Northwest closed out the first set strong, winning five of the last seven points in the set. Up 21-15, Sunderman put away a kill and on the next play, Becker and Foster combined for a block to put the Bearcats up 23-15. After a Missouri Western kill, Bruder put away a kill off an assist from Dannettell to force set point and a Griffon timeout. The Griffons hit into an attacking error on the next point to give Northwest the set, 25-16.

- In the second set, Northwest used a strong start to win the point to take the 2-1 lead over the Griffons. Foster and Bruder put away back-to-back kills to tie the match, 2-2. After a Missouri Western attacking error, Becker put away a kill and Bruder followed it up with another kill to make it 5-2. Foster and Becker combined on a block on the next play to make it 6-2 Bearcats. Northwest would not trail for the remainder of the set.
