Volleyball sweeps Lions to cap homestand

- The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep over Missouri Southern on Saturday at Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Mo.
- The win moves No. 17 Northwest to 21-2 overall and 9-2 in MIAA play. The Lions fall to 4-20 on the year and 1-10 in conference action.
- Maddy Bruder had a match-high 10 kills. She added five digs and a block.
- The Bearcat defense held Missouri Southern to a 0.021 attack percentage, forcing 23 attacking errors and seven service errors.

- Northwest won all three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-22.
- Alexis Williams had nine kills to go along with three blocks. She hit .400 for the match.

Key Northwest Sequences
- Northwest got off to a great start to set the tone for the entire match. Bruder hit back-to-back kills to even the first set, 2-2, and the Bearcats never looked back. five straight Missouri Southern errors, highlighted by blocks from Williams, Dannettell and Bruder, the Lions were forced into an early timeout, trailing 7-2. Foster added a kill out of the break to gie Northwest an 8-2 advantage.

- With the match tied, 21-21 in the third, MSSU gave the Bearcats a free point on a service error to make it 22-21 Northwest. Becker would add a kill on the next point to make it 23-21. After a Lion kill, Missouri Southern would make another service error to force match point, 24-22. The Bearcats would force MSSU into the team's 10th attacking error of the set to take the point and the match, 25-22.
