Baseball falls twice at Cameron


Story Highlights
- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team fell twice to Cameron University at McCord Field in Lawton, Okla., on Saturday.
- The Bearcats fell in the opening game, 6-1, and dropped the second game, 9-4.
- Northwest is now 2-5 overall while Cameron is now 4-4.

Game One Key Statistics (Cameron 6, Northwest 1)
- Northwest scored one run on two hits and did not commit an error.
- Cameron scored six runs on seven hits with no errors.
- The Aggies scored a run in the fourth and sealed the game with a five-run fifth inning.
- Joseph Hietpas got the start and went 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with three strikeouts and just one walk.
- Honto Pearcy got the last out of the fifth inning after allowing two runs on two hits.
- Luke Wilkinson pitched a scoreless sixth inning with a strikeout.
- Nick Gotta and Kevin Handzlick picked up base hits for the Bearcats.
- Austin Wulff drew a pair of walks.

Game One Key Innings
- Northwest plated its lone run in the top of the third. Austin Wulff and Kevin Handzlik opened the inning by drawing walks. With one out, Nick Gotta singled to load the bases. Derek Meyer worked a walk to score Wulff.
 
Game Two Key Statistics (Cameron 9, Northwest 4)
- The Bearcats scored four runs on 10 hits and committed one error.
- Northwest grabed an early first inning lead with one run and added three in the second.
- Cameron scored nine runs on 10 hits but committed four errors.
- The Aggies scored single runs in the first and second innings and added two in the third. They had one run in the fifth, three in the seventh and one in the eighth.
- Paul Johnson was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, a walk and a run scored.
- Kolby Greenslade was 2-for-5 on the day.
- Nick Howard was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
- Steven Garber, Blake Hardegree, Kevin Handzlik and James Holler all picked up hits on the day.
- Northwest used six pitchers on the day. Nikko Pablo took the loss after going 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits. Only two runs were earned.
- Austin Battaglia pitched 2.0 innings, allowing three runs while striking out four.
- Kole Klocko started the game but only went 1.1 innings.

Game Two Key Inning
- With the scored tied heading into the second, Northwest strung together a three-run three hit inning to take the lead. Nick Howard and Blake Hardegree both reached safely on singles. After a pair of outs, Nick Gotta reached on an error that scored Howard from second. Paul Johnson followed it up with a single which scored both Gotta and Hardegree.
