Bearcats fall to No. 10 Ichabods in four sets


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team fell to Washburn University, 3-1, on Friday evening in Bearcat Arena.
- The Bearcats fall to 14-8 overall and 7-5 in MIAA play. The Ichabods improve to 24-2 overall and 11-2 in conference action.
- Washburn entered the match as the nation's No. 10 ranked team by the AVCA this week.
- Prior to the match, Northwest honored seniors Natalie Gora, Jordan Trimble, Shelby Duren and Aarika Wittenburg along with manager Bailey Cook for Senior Day.
- Maddy Bruder had a team-high 13 kills with nine digs, four blocks and two blocks.
- Northwest had 13 total blocks, the second highest mark of the season.

- Jackie Becker had a match-high sevn block assists with eight kills.
- Miranda Foster had 12 digs to join Bruder in double-figures.
- Wittenburg had a match-best 21 digs with an assist.
- Alexis Williams had five total blocks with three kills.
- Megan Stilmock had three digs and the team's lone service ace.
- The Bearcats hit .213 for the match, just below Washburn's .231.
- Northwest's best set came in the second set, hitting .371 with 16 kills and just three errors.

Key Northwest Sequence
- Up 18-17 in the second set, Northwest went on a 5-0 run to help even the match at a set a piece. Bruder got a kill from Dannettell to make it 19-17 and then Washburn was called for a setting error to make it 20-17. After a block form Bruder and Williams, Washburn called a timeout. But on the ensuing point, Foster got a kill from Dannettell to make it 22-17. An over pass by the Ichabods floated to Foster who put it away on the next point to make it 23-17. The Bearcats would survive a mini rally from Washburn to take the set, 25-21.
