Strong offensive effort leads to sweep of Pitt State

- The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team picked up its third straight conference sweep, defeating Pittsburg State, 3-0.
- 227 fans watched the match inside Bearcat Arena.

Key Northwest Statistics
- Freshman Maddy Bruder led the Bearcats with 12 kills, good for a .417 hitting percentage. Bruder added five digs and one service ace.
- Alexis Williams hit an astounding .750, totaling nine kills and zero errors on twelve attacks. The sophomore also contributed two block assists.
- Junior Jackie Becker recorded her sixth double-digit kill night, tallying 10 kills.
- Shelby Duren added eight kills, 10 digs, three service aces, one block assist and one assist.
- Sophomore setter Sarah Dannettell tossed up 39 assists to go along with seven digs and three kills.
- Senior libero Aarika Wittenburg added 10 digs and three assists.
- Miranda Foster led the team on defense with 12 digs and one block assist while adding eight kills on the offensive end.
- The Bearcats held Pittsburg State to a .156 hitting percentage.


Key Northwest Sequence
- After getting out to a slim 8-5 lead in the first set, Alexis Williams tallied a kill off a perfect pass from Sarah Dannettell. Maddy Bruder followed that up with a service ace before Shelby Duren recorded a kill to make the score 11-5. The Gorillas took a timeout after Miranda Foster killed an over pass to extend the lead to seven, 12-5. The Bearcat lead wouldn't dip below six for the remainder of the set.

- Northwest opened the second set with six straight points to gain a commanding lead. After kills from Jackie Becker and Miranda Foster, Shelby Duren recorded a service ace to quickly make the score 3-0. Consecutive attacks from Sarah Dannettell extended the lead to 5-0 before Duren recorded her second ace in four serves, forcing a Pittsburg State timeout.
