Defense helps football remain perfect with win at UCO


Story Headlines
- The Northwest Missouri State University football team defeated the University of Central Oklahoma on Saturday, 36-13, at Wantland Stadium.
- The win moves the Bearcats to 4-0 on the season while UCO drops to 3-1. Northwest has now won 19 consecutive games.
- The Bearcat defense once again stepped up big, holding the Bronchos to just 169 yards of total offense and -14 rushing yards.

Northwest Key Statistics
- Running back Robert Burton III had 100 yards on 19 carries. He had two touchdowns and averaged 5.3 yards per carry.
- Cameron Wilcox had a career-best 86 yards rushing, recording his first two collegiate touchdowns on 15 carries.
- Jason Jozaites set personal bests on the day with six catches and 94 receving yards.
- Quarterback Brady Bolles completed 21-of-34 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball five times for 21 yards.
- Korey Jackson had two catches for 20 yards and a touchdown.
- George Sehl caught three passes for 48 yards and Quanzee Johnson had a pair of catches for 25 yards.
- Matt Longacre set the career record for sacks, recording 0.5 sacks on the day, giving him 27.0 for his career. The record is shared with former Bearcat Sean Paddock.
- Eric Reimer had a team-best five tackles, two for loss on the day.
- Punter Kyle Goodburn was called upon twice, landing both kicks inside the 20-yard line, averaging 48 yards per punt.
- The Bearcat offense (616) had its highest yardage total since the 2013 NCAA semifinal against Grand Valley State when Northwest recorded 521 total yards.
- The last time Northwest went over 600 total yards was against UCO last season, recording 687 total yards.
- Northwest gained 378 yards rushing, the most since playing UCO last year when the Bearcats gained 323 yards on the ground.

UCO Key Statistics
- The Bronchos managed just 169 total yards, 183 coming through the air. UCO ran the ball 22 times for -14 yards.
- UCO had 13 first downs and went 2-for-14 on third down conversions.
- Christian Hood had seven catches for 126 yards.
- The Bronchos were called for five penalties for 35 yards including one that negated a Bearcat punt.
- T.J. Eckert completed 11-of-33 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked five times and finished with -18 rushing yards.

Northwest Impact Plays
- Northwest struck first on a 15 yard pass from Brady Bolles to Korey Jackson in the back right corner of the end zone. That play capped an 11-play 75-yard drive to give the Bearcats a 6-3 lead.
- With 11:20 to go into the second quarter, Robert Burton III scored from seven yards out to make it 13-3 Northwest. The Bearcats took just 2:13 off the clock on the drive, covering 69 yards in only six plays.
- The Bearcats extended the lead to 20-6 on a two yard by Cameron Wilcox, his first collegiate touchdown. The four-play, 75-yard drive was sparked by a 59 yard run by freshman Randy Schmidt to begin the drive.
- With under five minutes to go in the third quarter, Northwest forced UCO into an intentional grounding call at its own one yard line, forcing a punt. On the ensuing snap, the Bronchos' long snapper skidded a ball that went through the back of the end zone for a safety.
- Burton found the end zone for the second time early in the fourth quarter on a two yard run to give the Bearcats a 29-6 lead. The run capped a 12-play, 65-yard drive.
- Wilcox finished the day by scoring his second touchdown with 9:47 to go in the fourth quarter on a four-yard run. The five-play 68-yard drive was helped by a big George Sehl catch for 37 yards to set Northwest up on the UCO 31 yard line.
