Bearcats knocked out of conference tournament

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State softball team was eliminated from the MIAA tournament Thursday after falling to Missouri Western, 16-7, in game one and then to Lindenwood in game two, 8-7.

The Bearcats and Griffons combined for 23 runs on 25 hits, including eight home runs.

The game was tied 6-6 going into the bottom of the fourth inning when MWSU added one run to take a slim one run lead. In the bottom of the fifth the Griffon offense plated six runs before winning the game by run rule in the six with three more runs.

Chantel Adams, Steph mark, Taszia Roseberry and Jill Henry all hit home runs for the Bearcats. Baylee Scarbrough was, a perfect, 3 for 3 in game one at the plate.

Game two was a back and forth slugfest which saw five lead changes in the seven inning affair.

Northwest headed into the final inning with a 7-5 lead. Lindenwood put two players on with two outs before hitting a game winning home run.

Mark hit her second home run of the day and finished the season with 12 to lead the team. Kristen Uthe hit a home run in her final at bat as a senior for the Bearcats. Scarbrough combine to go 5 for 6 in the two games with one walk.

Northwest will graduate two seniors before heading into the offseason.
