BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's tennis teams split a Friday afternoon match with Harding University in a match played at Southwest Baptist. The men moved to 9-1 on the year with a 5-4 defeat of No. 47 nationally ranked Harding. The women fell 5-1 to move to 8-9 on the year.

The men got victories at No. 3-6 singles as Alvaro Riveros, Lluis Altimires, Julien Couronne and Hicham Azzaoui all picked up victories in straight sets, respectively. The Bearcats picked up a doubles point as Sergio De Vilchez and Altimires defeated Mathaus Spiering and Yann LeMat, 8-2.

On the women's side, Northwest picked up a point at No. 3 doubles as Aniek Kolen and Stephanie Mannix defeated Lauren Doversola and Arielle Butler, 9-8 (8-6). In singles, Alexis Bartek won the first set at No. 2 singles but dropped the second before the match was called. Marianne Hull also won her first set at No. 5 singles and was down, 3-5, in the second set when the match was decided.

Northwest returns to action on Saturday with an MIAA road match at Emporia State. On Sunday, the men will take on Wichita State in Wichita, Kan., before returning for a men's and women's dual Monday with William Jewell in Maryville, Mo.
