Volleyball defeats Hays on Senior Day


Story Highlights
- The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team came away victorious against Fort Hays State, 3-1, Saturday in Maryville.
- Northwest is now 10-18 overall and 7-13 in the MIAA. The Tigers drop to 13-16 on the season and 7-13 in conference action.
- Kirsten Hudgens, Gabby Kuhl, Lindsey Schlake and Bailey Vance were honored on Senior Day.
- Shelby Duren led the Bearcats with 13 kills.

Northwest Statistics
- After winning the first set 25-23, the Bearcats dropped the second set 25-22.
- Northwest came out of the break strong, taking the third and fourth sets by a score of 25-20.
- As a team, Northwest hit .190 on the day, highlighted by a .273 performance in the fourth set.
- Duren also tallied six digs and two block assists.
- Jackie Becker led the team with five block assists. She added 10 kills, three digs and a service ace.
- Schlake had a strong showing on her Senior Day, contributing eight kills and five block assists.
- Vance led the team defensively with 14 digs and added three assists.
- Sarah Dannettell had a game-high 43 assists in the match to go along with 11 digs, two block assists, and four kills.
- Bristol Lewis accumulated eight digs for the Bearcats, while Darcy Sunderman contributed six.
- Senior Kirsten Hudgens tallied two service aces and 10 digs.
- Fellow senior added three kills, an assist and a dig.

- Northwest will hit the road to play Central Missouri on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
- The Bearcats will wrap up the 2014 regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15 when they travel to play Lindenwood at 2 p.m.
